June 14, 2006 --
As mentioned in the news article posted on March 24th, the
Advisory Committee on Smaller Public Companies
("Committee") was scheduled to make
recommendations to the U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission ("SEC") at the end of
April.
Upon
review of the Final Report submitted by the Committee, the
SEC determined last month that smaller public
companies will not be exempt from complying with the
Sarbanes-Oxley law.
In
the meantime, lawmakers have proposed the exemption of
companies with a market value of less than $700 million.
