– Joseph
Beach, a Director at Asher & Company, has been selected
to serve as a preliminary judge for
Temple
University
’s Annual Business
Innovation Competition which will be held on
May 3, 2005
. Beach
will review and help select the top six business plans
submitted by students, faculty, and staff from 17 schools
and colleges throughout
Temple
University
. This year, participants
have been asked to place emphasis on science, technology and
engineering. The
winner of this year’s competition will receive $25,000 in
cash and in-kind services, one of the highest prizes awarded
by any university in the region.
Beach,
the leader of Asher’s
SEC
practice group, will bring
considerable expertise to the table as judge for this
competition. His areas of concentration include: financial
reporting and consolidations; acquisition analysis and due
diligence; IPOs and other offering transactions;
SEC
reporting, cost control
and restructuring strategies; international accounting,
reporting, control and financial management; business
communication; strategic planning; and profitability
analysis. One example of his accomplishments:
Beach implemented an operational restructuring plan
that resulted in an annual net cost savings of $5 million
and obtained a $500,000 credit facility for the company’s
U.S.
packing subsidiary.
