Pierre Robert
has been called out of the country on business and will
postpone his visit to Asher. However, the Asher Open will
go on!
Previous story: It’s that time of year again. That
wonderful break in the midst of the profession’s busiest
season when Asher & Company, Ltd. hosts the tension-taming,
entertaining, televised and publicized, celebrated, much
awaited, inimitable Asher Open. This year’s event
promises to be a winner!
On Friday, March 23rd, WMMR’s Pierre Robert will broadcast
one of his signature Friday workforce blocks from our offices.
A long-time favorite of dyed-in-the-wool MMR fans, Pierre
Robert’s show airs weekdays from 9 until 2. Charismatic,
intelligent, witty and fiercely faithful to the rock purist
roots of Philadelphia’s original rock music station,
Pierre Robert is obviously as popular here at Asher &
Company as he is throughout the rest of the Delaware Valley.
Since learning about the Asher Open, our many newcomers
have inquired about its purpose and origin. Well, though
it beginnings may have been humble, it evolved into an exciting
event for many folks on many levels.
The much anticipated tradition began at Asher & Company
nearly five years ago. Held on a Friday in March, the Asher
Open as it has come to be known, transforms the office into
a 9 hole miniature golf course, complete with hills, traps,
and trick holes. The success of the first year’s event
guaranteed subsequent Asher Opens. What no one realized
at the time, however, is that the light-hearted busy-season
breather would develop into a marketing tour de force.
Overwhelming interest in the novel idea brought ABC’s
local affiliate to the office for the second Asher Open.
Channel 6’s Don Pollack featured the firm in a lengthy
special interest segment that prompted a host of phone calls
and comments from clients and friends of the firm. The third
year, Asher & Company was visited by Fox sports commentator,
Pete Christie, who again gave the organization a sizable
chunk of air time during his sports segment. Last year’s
Asher Open was filmed for CBS’s local station, Channel
10, who aired the clip on the eleven o’clock news.
Aside from TV coverage, the Asher Open has fared equally
well with the print media. Since its inception, it has been
the subject of several articles appearing in publications
such as: Philadelphia Inquirer, CPA Journal and CPA News.
This year, with the effervescent Pierre Robert on board,
the event is expected to really heat up in here and reach
a broad new audience out there.
So polish your putts and muster your guts, because Asher
& Company is about to be on the radio with Pierre Robert.
Just think, two Philadelphia legends sharing coming together
right here...who said accountants have dull existence.
