For the fourth consecutive
holiday season, the employees of Asher have reached out to
their adopted school, the H.A. Brown School in Philadelphia.
Thanks to the efforts of
Tax Director Bill Burns and Randee Mellon, who is the firm’s
Community Development Coordinator, 85 less fortunate
children were able to have a brighter holiday season.
Asher employees were able
to pick a "Heart," each representing one needy
child in the school. Using the information presented on each
"Heart," Asher employees purchased and wrapped
their donated gifts. After all of the presents were
collected, they were delivered to the school on December
20th in three car loads. School administrators told
us that these donated gifts were most likely the only
presents the children would receive this holiday season.
Bill Burns is hopeful that an event such
as this will have a significant effect on the lives of the
children who have gained from the large amount of generosity
of Asher’s employees. "Over the years we have
sponsored and/or participated in many events to benefit the
students of H.A. Brown School, such as Stay in School Day,
Principal for a Day, and Visit Our Office Day. The holiday
season is such a special time of the year for children. We
love doing this drive, and I am hopeful that out of all the
H.A. Brown activities we sponsor, the Holiday Gift Drive
holds a special place in their hearts."
