Goals, Time Frame,
Risk Tolerance
Asset allocation is a critical factor in portfolio structure.
A personalized investment analysis and portfolio consists of the following process:
- Determine risk profile and financial objectives
- Determine asset allocation policy
- Diversify and manage assets
- Monitor and rebalance portfolio
- Communicate results
Investment Objectives
The following factors help determine investment objectives:
- Asset Growth
- Wealth Preservation
- Minimizing Taxes
Holding any particular asset class longer can decrease the variability in the return
(risk).
Allocation, Allocation, Allocation
Asset allocation is often considered the single most critical factor in overall
performance of investments.
Risk Management
Risk may be decreased while maintaining a given level of return, or return may be
increased while maintaining a given level of risk.
Diversified Portfolios Make Sense
Diversified portfolios with risk/return profiles ranging from very conservative to very
aggressive can be developed. Asset allocation policies are customized to personal
objectives, time frame and risk profiles.
Rebalancing maintains the asset class exposure within the asset allocation policy.
Without rebalancing, the asset mix may become inconsistent with asset allocation policy.
Communication is Key
Communication is a key component throughout the entire process. Tracking results allows
for comparison between stated objectives, opens dialogue regarding portfolio management,
and provides the opportunity to rebalance the portfolio due to changes in the asset
allocation process.
Depending on client needs, our communication methods may include telephone calls,
personal visits, and comprehensive reports. Our software packages provides
easy-to-understand reports which include consolidated account statements, quarterly
account performance reporting, and detailed tax reports.
