Bill Burns, a Tax Department director, joined Asher & Company, Ltd. in 1991. During
his tenure with the organization, Bill has provided tax planning and preparation services
for an extensive and diverse client base, including: investment groups, real estate
developers, manufactures, distributors, retailers, service organizations, and a host of
International business entities. Performing a wealth of tax related engagements, Bill
brings particular expertise to taxation issues affecting partnerships, closely held
businesses and Multi-state/International organizations operating as S corporations or C
corporations. Bill has advised clients on inbound investments in the United States ,
including structuring cross-border ownership, repatriation planning, treaty planning,
transfer pricing, branch profits tax issues, and multi-state income and sales tax
planning. In addition, he brings a wealth of experience in utilizing the benefits
applicable to foreign sales corporations as well as those related to the Extraterritorial
Income Exclusion (EIE) for Exporters. Bill also has substantial experience in planning and
compliance associated with the individual taxation of expatriates and inpatriates of
multinational organizations, including compensation planning, treaty planning equalization
and dealing with totalization agreements.
Bill conducts periodic seminars on pertinent tax related policies and procedures,
volunteers through the PICPA's Small Business Assistance Series and serves as an Adjunct
Professor at Drexel University 's "Drexel Experience" program.
