Steve Carr became Chairman of the Firm in October 2005 after serving as Managing Director
of Asher & Company, Ltd. from 1996 to 2005. He also serves as a Tax
Director. He joined the company in 1977 after spending several years at Arthur Young
where he was responsible for federal, state and local tax matters for public, as well as
closely held businesses. Upon his arrival at Asher & Company, Steve began supervising
the development of the organization’s expanding tax department. Today, he is active
on several firm committees, among them: Management; Consulting; Financial Planning; and
Marketing/Practice Development groups. In addition, he has served as a tax instructor for
Temple University and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has
participated in television and radio shows as a commentator on tax and financial issues. Steve’s
practice primarily concentrates on high net worth individuals and closely held businesses
with an emphasis on tax, business and personal financial planning. His client base
includes public companies, closely held business, financial management organizations and
real estate entities.
Over the years, Steve has conducted seminars on numerous tax related policies and
procedures. His articles have appeared in several industry publications. In October, 2000,
he was featured in Philadelphia Business Journal’s
CEO Portrait. Steve has been recognized by Money Magazine
as being among the best tax practitioners in the United States. Steve has been interviewed
during WHYY’s telethon, and he has also been featured on Comcast SportsNet, WMMR,
NBC, and ABC promoting the Asher Open.
