Madeline Janowski is a Director in the Tax Department of Asher &
Company, Ltd. She specializes in individual and corporate tax planning as well as employee
benefits issues and retirement and estate planning. Madeline served as President of the
Philadelphia Estate Planning Council (PEPC), the second largest of its kind in the
country. PEPC also awarded Madeline the 2004 Mordecai Gerson Meritorious Service Award for
extraordinary service to further the work of the Council. She has received the STAR Award
from the Forum of Executive Women. A frequent speaker on tax-related issues, Madeline has spoken on such topics as
retirement plan distributions, tax aspects of divorce, tax reform and the medical
professional and current issues and changes affecting closely-held businesses under the
TRA of 1997. She served as a panelist for the Womens Business Development
Centers "Money Talks" program. Additionally, her articles on taxation
matters include Tax Returns Can Disclose Assets in Divorce
Settlements, published in Taxation for Accountants, and Controversy Over Advanced Litigation Costs Continues,
published in Taxation for Lawyers. Madeline was featured in Money
magazine as one of the top "tax pros" in the country. She was chosen to
participate in preparing a fictitious family's tax return designed and reviewed by Money magazine. Madeline was among only 14 participants to
correctly address the key matters.
Prior to joining Asher & Company, Ltd. in
1978, Madeline worked for Arthur Young and Company, one of the "Big Five"
accounting firms. She received the Elijah Watts Sells Award for outstanding achievement in
the CPA exam.
