Kevin Johnson came to Asher & Company, Ltd. in 1996, bringing with him over nineteen
years’ experience in the accounting industry. During his career, Kevin has planned
and directed audits, compilations, reviews, financial projections and other special
projects. His diverse client base includes: closely held businesses, manufacturers and
not-for-profit groups, among others. However, his primary professional focus has been
directed to real estate entities with a particular emphasis on affordable and government
funded housing. As a result, Kevin has accrued enormous experience in audits performed in
accordance with the Consolidated Audit Guide for HUD Programs, OMB Circular A-133,
electronically filed financial statements, internal control structure, materiality and
sampling procedures and techniques. Over the years, he has been involved in countless
low-income housing tax credit transactions. Kevin regularly conducts affordable housing
audits for various agencies, including: HUD, the New Jersey’s Housing Mortgage
Finance Agency, and the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. In addition to directing and
performing audits, Kevin prepares tax returns for affordable housing entities and
properties where low-income housing tax credits are applicable. Likewise, he monitors
related financial and reporting compliance. Kevin regularly conducts seminars on pertinent
financial policies and procedures in conjunction with the industry’s continuing
professional education program. He is an executive member of Asher & Company,
Ltd.’s Real Estate Team and Human Resources Committee. Kevin resides in Southern New
Jersey, where he maintains an active participation in various civic and social
organizations.
