Catherine A. Nemeth, CPA, is a Director in the Accounting and Auditing Department and has been serving on the firm's Executive Committee since its inception in 1993. She previously served as the Chair of the Accounting and Auditing department for ten years and as the Director of the firm's Not-for-Profit Services Group for seven years. Cathy has a diverse client base comprised of professional corporations, not for profit organizations, real estate groups, and closely held businesses. Today, she continues to provide financial consulting and compliance services to clients and conducts concurring reviews for many firm clients.
She is well-versed in accounting literature concerning accounting for contributions, agency transactions, financial statement requirements, treatment of investments and endowment funds, cost allocation and the requirements of OMB A-133, Government Auditing Standards and the AICPA Not-for-Profit Audit Guide.
When she was Director-in-Charge of services to not-for-profit organizatons, Cathy conducted the firm’s seminars on the Title 4300 MH/MR Fiscal Regulations. Cathy has also spoken to bankers and associations on various accounting, auditing and consulting issues. She has provided consulting services in such areas as accounting system evaluation, application of fiscal regulations and strategies to fully utilize available funding and worker classification. Cathy co-authored “Taking the Big Leap: Starting Your Own Business” and wrote “Independent Contractor or Employee?” which were published in MEDSURG Nursing, a nursing periodical. She also published an article for the Small Business News which focused on key accounting issues.
