| When the going gets tough, the tough go
golfing. In the office of course. Since 1997, Asher & Company, Ltd. has been
breaking ground in office golf. Founded as a tax season stress-buster for all employees,
the Asher Open has become synonymous with the firm.
The Asher Open transforms the office into a 9 hole miniature golf course, complete with
hills, traps, trick holes and a pro shop. The success of the first years event
guaranteed subsequent Asher Opens. What no one realized at the time, however, is that the
light-hearted busy-season breather would develop into a great fund-raiser too.
Support a Great Cause
Our defending champion
Doug Hall chose Alexs Lemonade
Stand as the benefactor of this years Asher Open.
Doug says, "When I first heard about Alex's Lemonade Stand, I was in
awe of a four year old girl who decided she was going to raise money herself to fight
pediatric cancer by selling lemonade. Alex
Scott was truly an inspiration to thousands and that is evidenced by the fact that her
simple lemonade stand has evolved into a nationally known charity that is raising money
and awareness in the fight. Pediatric cancer
hit closer to home for me when a child in my neighborhood was diagnosed with cancer in
2004. He spent months at CHOP receiving
treatment and has been cancer free now for nearly three years. To see a child suffer that way and then fight back
is really amazing. So, I have chosen Alex's
Lemonade Stand for my charity of choice to help the researchers and doctors continue the
fight for treatments and cures for pediatric cancer."
This is the only time that Asher asks our
friends, alumni, contacts, clients, and vendors for support during the year! If youd like to participate in this
years Asher Open on March 19 please email us
by March 14. If you cant make the date,
you can still send contributions to Asher any time during the year, and we will forward
them to Alexs Lemonade Stand. You can

Asher Open in the News
Overwhelming
interest in the novel idea brought ABCs local affiliate to the office for the second
Asher Open. Channel 6s Don Polec featured the firm in a lengthy special interest
segment that prompted a host of phone calls and comments from clients and friends of the
firm. The third year, Asher & Company was visited by Comcast sports commentator, Pete
Christie, who again gave the organization a sizable chunk of air time during his sports
segment during his dual with Steve Carr. Of course, Steve got to say, "I beat
Pete." The fourth Asher Open was filmed for CBSs local station, Channel 10, who aired the
clip on the eleven oclock news. The fifth annual Asher Open rated a spot on Channel
10's early news. Aside from TV coverage, the Asher Open has fared equally well with the
print media. Since its inception, it has been the subject of several articles appearing in
publications such as: Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Business Journal, CPA Journal
and CPA News.
